A Tough Road to Hoe For Arsenal, But No Impossibilities

From now until the end of February, Arsenal will face Portuguese outfit Benfica in two legs, with Manchester City sandwiched between the first and Leicester ending the run. A resounding victory over two legs and six points might sound as though it’s an awful amount to ask of this club, of this squad, but these are the runs that they will have to overcome to become the great, consistent outfit that the fans demand.

City are playing remarkable football, and their next two matches, between Everton and Arsenal respectively, will take great efforts, both for Manchester and their adversaries. For the Gunners, making it through February with a chance at Europe still alive will make for a successful month I imagine, yet staying competitive in England can’t be far behind as far as ambitions go.

Wins over tough competition here could see some immediate pressure removed from the boss as well.

Some pundits continue to ask whether he is the man for the job, and until he beats some larger names consistently, he will continue to hear and field these types of questions. Yet when you win, the questions fall from screams to mere murmurs, and another trophy, in Europe particularly, might settle the debate on north London streets, if not for the pundits on the television.

Next. Champions League return?. dark

They’re consistent however, and so you’ve got to respect that. Consistency is the name of the game, and Arteta and Arsenal are aiming for that as well.
