Patson Daka – Red Bull Salzburg

Patson Daka looks to be the next of the Red Bull Salzburg alumni after Erling Braut Haaland and Dominik Szoboszlai to move to one of the bigger teams in European football.

With 24 goals in 28 games in all competitions this season – including 17 goals in 15 Austrian Bundesliga games – Daka is one of the elite forwards in Europe at present and has rightly attracted interest from major European sides such as Liverpool.

The Zambian international has unflappable confidence with both feet and makes light work of shaking off any defenders in close proximity before finding going for the jugular. He scores a variety of goals from areas all across the pitch, widening the scope for him to suit Arteta’s interchanging forward line.

Key to highlight about Daka is his predatory instincts. Always finding himself in the right place at the right time in the penalty area, when he hits the ball, it stays hit. Thunder in his boots.

Another aspect of Daka’s prolific goalscoring is that he has a penchant for making late runs across the front of his man where he can get a shot away from inside the six-yard area. It is these intelligent movements combined with his pace and beast-like strength which makes him a nightmare for defenders.

Some figures quote his asking price at around £25m, making Daka is slightly more expensive than Boadu  but still cheaper than Toney, and given there will be other clubs sniffing around for him, any move would depend on whether Arsenal are willing to get in a bidding war. They’d rather avoid that.
