Arsenal’s Chances of Signing Guido Rodriguez

Despite having a superb debut campaign with Betis, the club are in need of balancing their accounts this summer through player sales, and may look to cash in on the Gunners’ interest in order to accrue desperately needed finance.

That is set to require selling more than one, so even having only enjoyed the South American’s services for one season, the huge profit they could make on him will help negotiations run smoother. They’re well aware of Arsenal’s interest.

Of course, it’s quite hard to ignore the eye-watering £69m release clause. Sales at the club are inevitable, so he would be an achievable target on less than that, while the Spanish report adds that ‘despite the crisis’ Arsenal ‘have enough economic resources’ to launch a serious bid. £69m, however, we can forget.

Another report, this time from Estadio Deportivo, reveals that Rodriguez doesn’t want to force a move away and is comfortable at the club, even with two other unnamed sides making their feelings known on a potential transfer.

William Carvalho – who somehow is only 28 years old despite being linked with a move to the Premier League since the before Sir Alex Ferguson even existed – is up for sale, as is winger Cristian Tello, although they are not Arsenal’s priority.

Beyond Rodriguez, the Gunners are said to be monitoring other members of the Betis squad as they seek to exploit the financial needs of the coronavirus hit club.

Who might they be keeping tabs on?
