Ibrahima Konate – RB Leipzig & France Under-21

The French are spoiled. It isn’t fair. They have a selfish number of magnificent talents at their disposal in nigh-on every position.

Central defence is particularly healthy. The senior side currently boast Presnel Kimpembe, Clement Lenglet, Raphael Varane and Kurt Zouma in their ranks, with the Under-21 troupe blessed with Boubacar Kamara, Wesley Fofana, Benoît Badiashile, Jules Koundé and Ibrahima Konate.

The above list also misses out Dayot Upamecano, Aymeric Laporte and Arsenal’s own William Saliba. Oh, and about ten others, which is not an exaggeration.

It’s Konate who the focus is on, though. Arsenal may not need any central defensive signings in the summer if they choose to keep David Luiz and integrate Saliba, but they’re nonetheless exploring the option and are keeping close tabs on the RB Leipzig defender.

He’s a beast, and less error prone than his fellow countryman and centre-back partner at Leipzig.

One to watch if he can even get game time with an annoyingly talented pool of teammates to usurp in the starting lineup.
