Achraf Hakimi is world class. Have a glance across the world and the list of right-backs more productive and with a higher ceiling than him are thin. Every club would welcome someone of his ability and Arsenal are one of them.

At an Inter side in pole position for their first Serie A title since 2010 and regularly playing in the Champions League, Arsenal are not the first name that would emerge among the potential destinations for the Moroccan.

Nobody can dispute that, since a mid-table standing in the Premier League and Europa League football all there is to offer at this point – there might not even be that next season – are unquestionable downgrades on his current situation.

However, financial concerns at San Siro with the Italian side’s owners, Suning Holdings Group, aiming to focus on their retail ventures which have prompted a potential sale of the club. In order to raise funds they’ll need to cash in on their prized assets, with Achraf Hakimi being one of a few in their squad who isn’t pushing 50.

Achraf Hakimi agent discusses chances of Inter departure as Arsenal eye summer transfer

"Hakimi’s representative, Alejandro Camano, told Calciomercato: “As of today, he is very happy to play for such an important club. I don’t know what the future holds, but I say today that Hakimi is happy and his team is Inter.“The objective is to win the Scudetto. After that, Inter’s situation at the club level is complicated, but I repeat: we are very happy here in football terms. We’ll see what happens in future, but this is a very important step in his career.“We certainly don’t intend on leaving the team in such a delicate situation.”"

Mentioning the club’s ‘complicated’ situation adds fuel to the financial fires, which will put a spring in the step of European sides who’d pay handsomely – or whatever they can afford – to secure his services. He’s that good.

Arsenal are obviously in a weaker position than, say, Chelsea, who boast the financial clout and Champions League football to entice a player of his calibre, but Arsenal still remain in the hunt.

That said, i’d be a miracle if Arsenal can lure him to north London for the reasons above. Even if they do win the Europa League and return among the continent’s elite, it’d still be a tall order.
