Arsenal contact Sergio Aguero over stunning Man City move
Arsenal have made first contact with Sergio Aguero’s representatives over a potential move to the Emirates Stadium when his contract expires at Manchester City in the summer.
Already confirmed to have a statue built in his honour outside of the Etihad Stadium, Sergio Aguero‘s legacy at City ranks among some of the finest ever witnessed in Premier League history.
The Argentine sits fourth in the all-time leading goalscorers list for the division with a staggering 181 in 271 outings, accrued over ten seasons with the Citizens.
Turning 33 years old in the summer, it was mutually agreed between Pep Guardiola’s side and the striker to part ways in at the end of his current contract, setting off a worldwide scramble to secure his prized signature on a free transfer.

Usual suspects Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and famed retirement home Juventus have been already mentioned, so too has Club Atlético Independiente, Aguero’s boyhood club.
It appears as if Mikel Arteta is keen on using his previous relationship with the legendary striker to good effect, as it was revealed by journalist Luca Scagliola that Arsenal have made first contact with Aguero’s representatives over the possibility of bringing the Argentina international to north London.
There are no further details on the nature of the contacts made, just that a line of communication has now been opened with a view to a potential deal.
However, a report from ESPN revealed that Aguero’s preference is to either return to Argentina or join a club on mainland Europe, feeling his time in England should draw to a close. Understandable.
And you also can’t begrudge any club trying their hand at signing the highest scoring non-Englishman in Premier League history when he becomes a free agent. That doesn’t mean Arsenal should pursue it, though.
Aguero has been ravaged with injuries over the course of the past two seasons, with the variety of issues hampering his playing time and his place in the side being majorly overtaken by Gabriel Jesus as a result.
If Arsenal were to acquire Aguero it would be on astronomical wages they can’t afford, while there are enough forwards over the age of 30 already in the squad for this rebuild.
Would he lift the quality at centre-forward? Without doubt. Does that justify what it’d constitute? Doubtful.
