Slavia Prague vs Arsenal Score Prediction

Arteta has some huge decisions to make for Thursday. Having got his team selection horribly wrong in the first leg, the system and personnel that secured the 3-0 win at Sheffield United will have lodged a spanner in his brain.

The team put out in the first leg, while not the right combination of forwards in any case, was more suited to playing a side sitting deeper. With Slavia holding the advantage in this one and knowing Arsenal must attack them in Prague, they may look to defend their lead more than add to it.

Performances of Martinelli, Alexandre Lacazette, Calum Chambers and Nicolas Pepe will factor in to his decisions, but the goal remains the same: score.

It’s imperative that Arteta fields goalscorers on the pitch and forwards who attack the box, even if his thinking may be to gradually grind Slavia Prague down. Wrongly, it should be added.

The hosts have been in excellent form at home this season not losing a single fixture in both domestic and European action, thus the task at hand is a monumental one.

Confidence will be higher after a morale-boosting, and crucially dominating, win over Sheffield United. This is a different kettle of fish, though. Injuries will play a considerable role in overall team performance, with Tierney and Luiz’s absences compounded by the lack of Smith Rowe, Odegaard and potentially Saka.

Everything hinges on Thursday. Everything. The European dream must stay alive and the desperation from Arsenal may see them falter at this hurdle. Slavia Prague won’t be as poor as they were in the first leg, even without having neither first choice centre-back available.

Arsenal have enough to book their place in the semi-finals. They must show it. Heart rules head on this one.
