Odsonne Edouard is perfect for Arsenal
23-year-old Odsonne Edouard has made headway in the Scottish Premiership and at the international level for the French Under-21 national team, scoring 19 goals in 33 matches at Celtic and 17 goals in only 13 caps for France. He’s special and Arsenal know it.
As Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah enter their final years on their contracts, Arsenal is revving up to purchase a new striker, with Celtic Odsonne Edouard as one of their main targets.
A true young talent in world football, Edouard is the complete striker. At 6’2, he is long and physical; uses his strength to hold off defenders and drive at the opposition into dangerous areas; he is ferociously quick with good fast feet on the ball; a lethal finisher in front of the net and boasts keen striker’s instincts.
He is also a work horse, making dashing runs throughout games that give him scoring opportunities, preoccupying defenders and giving his teammates a chance to create for themselves.
Odsonne Edouard is the perfect centre-forward for Arsenal as Celtic striker looks set to leave in summer transfer window
He is also a very skilled passer, good at lay-offs and one-touch football, perfect for Arsenal’s style of play. Furthermore, he’s not a bad crosser, which gives him the potential of interchanging in wide areas if need be. Essentially, he can do the lot.
Edouard would fit snugly alongside the youth of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli at Arsenal. As a lively figure who will make an instant impact with the Gunners, he is a must-sign for the summer.
Arsenal are not the only Premier League club looking to sign the French national though, as Leicester City are in the running to sign the Celtic Striker, as per The Telegraph.
A £15m fee, the Gunners could secure Edouard at a bargain price, and then receive an instant impact on the pitch.
The striker situation at Arsenal has been inconsistent all year, this is someone who will add stability to the position and boasts a skillset Arsenal can build around.
The fate of the French Under-21 is uncertain, but I think all fans would be pleased if Mikel Arteta brought him into wear the Arsenal jersey. Time will tell what moves the Spanish manager makes in the summer – if he’s still in charge and whether he has European football or not- but hopefully by the start of the season we see Edouard swapping green for red.
