Manager and Substitutes

Mikel Arteta – 5.0

Tactically he did very well, but he picked the wrong midfield. Ceballos and Elneny both looked decent individually, but do not work well in tandem. They both got sloppy as the first half carried on, and the second half continued that trend. It took Xhaka stepping up into the midfield to instill any sort of stability. Decently progressive with his changes though. As he was with Brendan Rogers a few months ago, outclassed by Scott Parker.

SUB: Thomas Partey – 6.0

The first season of his Arsenal career hasn’t been perfect, but his influence on this team is undeniable. He played a key role from the moment he stepped on, and was very bright on the ball, and stout in defense.

SUB: Nicolas Pepe – 5.5

So unlucky not to score off a brilliant Martinelli cross. Did everything he could with the header, and only the right boot of Areola could deny him. Constantly isolated 2-on-1 on the left wing, and struggled to create. Looked a mite sloppy when he switched to the right. He really is frustratingly mercurial.

SUB: Eddie Nketiah – 5.5

Slightly anonymous. Hasn’t played much recently, and his first touch was loose. Good tap-in finish to equalize.
