Despite actual football being the least discussed topic this week, Arsenal have a Premier League match with Everton to prepare for and have provided injury updates on key stars ahead of Friday night’s fixture.

With news of the Super League breakaway taking place while Arsenal were labouring to a last minute 1-1 draw with relegation threatened Fulham, matters on the pitch became secondary.

In the midst of that weak performance was the devastating hamstring injury that forced Alexandre Lacazette to leave the field in pain, adding further concerns to their hopes of navigating their way past Unai Emery’s Villarreal in the Europa League semi-finals.

As the Super League has disbanded before they could come up with more than a half-arsed website and trashy logo, attentions for the players and staff have turned to the visit of Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees, with Mikel Arteta now aware of who he will have available for the Premier League clash.

Arsenal provide crucial Alexandre Lacazette and Martin Odegaard injury updates as well as the latest on Aubameyang ahead of Everton

On the Lacazette front the news is hugely positive. Expecting weeks sidelined and the potential for worse, the club issued an update on their official website.

"The update read: “Alex has sustained a strain to his left hamstring and will be unavailable for Friday’s match against Everton. He will continue to work with the medical team and will be assessed ahead of next week’s matches.”"

While it will be a tall order to be fit in time for the Europa League first leg, the fact he is in contention is hugely positive. As for Martin Odegaard, who has featured just once since the international break, the club revealed he could be included in the squad for Friday and will be assessed.

David Luiz has amde huge progress following his surgery and will return to light training next week, while Kieran Tierney continues to be recovering and is due to be back training in two to three weeks.

As for the captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be available to face Everton after contracting malaria, but the club confirmed light training will resume later this week.

It means Eddie Nketiah is set to lead the line on Friday, unless Gabriel Martinelli gets the nod, with it hoped Odegaard could earn some valuable late minutes ahead of the trip to Spain.
