Arsenal team news

There is some positive news for Arsenal following on from their woeful display on Thursday night as a number of key players look set to return from injury.

Where Arteta may be uncertain is in who to risk ahead of Villarreal. It was revealed on Wednesday that Kieran Tierney, Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Luiz were all in contention for their first leg tie, although just two of those made the bench.

Luiz remained a substitute with Aubameyang coming on for the final six minutes, encouraging signs for Arsenal that still leave question marks over the other two options.

Perhaps a smokescreen to throw Unai Emery off, Arteta will be hoping both Tierney and Lacazette can get some minutes in their legs, even if only briefly, to have them in the best shape available for the return leg with Villarreal.

Elsewhere there are no concerns in the squad, as despite receiving his marching orders at Estadio de la Ceramica, Dani Ceballos’ red card does not carry over into domestic action and he is available to feature.

Newcastle team news

The standout absentee for Steve Bruce is his saviour since January, Willock. Excellent since joining on a six-month loan spell from north London, the midfielder has three goals in his last 46 minutes of top-flight football, including a remarkable 96th minute equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield last time out.

Due to the loan agreement he will have to watch on from the stands.

However there is good news for the Magpies with top scorer Callum Wilson primed and ready for his first start since early February after suffering a hamstring tear. He’s made three cameo outings since but is set to get the nod from the off on Sunday.

The same applies to Fabian Schar who has also been absent since February, although he is more likely to feature on the bench.
