Folarin Balogun’s long-winded transfer saga was well documented as Arsenal fans read the news nervously from behind their fingers. In the end, however, the striker signed a new deal keeping him at the club until 2025. Fans rejoiced, seeing a well-rounded and talented youth player finally commit his future.

Like Azeez, minutes could be rare for Balogun. Alexandre Lacazette’s revival, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s return from illness and Arteta’s experimentation with Gabriel Martinelli starting up front have led to Balogun being unable to break into the senior fold at the tail end of this season.

Aubameyang’s contract extension last summer and Lacazette’s own reported pending renewal are roadblocks in the way for the academy product, while the widespread acceptance that Arsenal are after a new centre-forward won’t help.

Nketiah took the path of being loaned out last season and following in his footsteps would allow him to develop while Aubameyang continues to lead the line and Lacazette, perhaps, remains in north London. Refining parts of his game will only enhance his many qualities, making him a prime option for Arsenal’s starting striker in the years to come. All that comes with simply playing more football.

Arsenal have youth talents that would make even the top clubs envious. They must, however, develop these talents wisely. Seeing the superb nature of loans this season, and with no European football next term, these three would profit greatly.
