Matteo Guendouzi Edges Closer to Marseille Transfer From Arsenal

Another situation filed neatly under ‘oh my word this is getting incredibly tiresome just sort the deal out for crying out loud’ also appears to be edging closer. Yes, we’ve heard that before. Many, many times.

La Provence are very reliable when it comes to Marseille news and they’re the ones who’ve been following this story throughout the summer.

Matteo Guendouzi having no future at Arsenal is the most confident statement anyone will be able to make throughout this summer. Arteta does not fancy him one bit. As seen with William Saliba and Reiss Nelson, once the manager’s mind is made up he’s unlikely to reverse his decision.

While yet again it will all come down to what fee Arsenal can accrue, just as with Torreira, Guendouzi’s next club appears all but assured.

Having been to visit the stadium and get a tour of the training facilities, Guendouzi has personally agreed with the club all the details on his side, including a four-year contract. Two of the three parties are in total agreement, as are Arsenal, except for (you guessed it) the fee.

Arsenal ‘want rid’ of the Frenchman and are favouring a sale for €20m (which would be a profit!!!!), although that figure is too high for Marseille who want to take him an on initial loan with an obligation to buy. French clubs are shot for finance so it’s not much surprise.

However, with Benfica circling around, Les Phocéens are moving quickly and there is confidence on their part of the deal being concluded by the end of the week or early the next.

If Arsenal get what they want for Torreira and Guendouzi they’re looking at £34m, although with neither buying club especially well off they will surely expect to get less. £30m seems reasonable if negotiations meet in the middle, although even then it’s not going to be that amount immediately in the pocket.

For piece of mind and to spare ourselves the anguish, let’s hope Lazio and Marseille pull their fingers out so we can all move on. At least we know where the pair are going now.
