Arsenal Eye Central Midfield Transfer in Coming Windows

Central midfield is not only where Arsenal are light in bodies, but light in quality too.

Rumours persist around Mohamed Elneny’s future and if he were to leave before the remaining European windows close then Arteta faces taking on a Premier League season with hopeful runs in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup with just four recognised options.

Sambi is one who will continue to develop and as of yet Ainsley Maitland-Niles hasn’t proved himself of the standard required to be playing regularly for Arsenal in the centre of the park.

Were Granit Xhaka to have been sold then it would have been tackled in the window just passed but having not received a satisfactory offer from any club he remained put, penning a one-year extension.

Whether it was ‘value protection’ or not, he will enter his 30’s in just over a years’ time while Thomas Partey will not be getting any younger either.

Maitland-Niles will surely be sold and Elneny, whether moved on this month or not, isn’t set for a a new deal any time soon so will also be gone come next summer.

Miguel Azeez will be back from his loan at Portsmouth and the speed of his development could have a say in how the midfield area is viewed, but the end result remains Arsenal will be active for a midfielder and striker come January, the next summer, and perhaps even after that.

Two key positions that fall next up on the agenda will be the talk of the town. Rumours of long-standing interest in Yves Bissouma remains in tact, while Alexander Isak, a dream fit for the centre-forward role at Arsenal, will surely also be on the radar.

Next. Ben White's varied tactical roles. dark

Hopes of these moves being fast-tracked to January may need tempering, however. Already a notoriously difficult window to operate in, the only realistic area that could be bolstered would be midfield. And, after the net spend just gone, you would imagine sales will need to start flowing out of the club first.
