The turnover at Arsenal this summer was quite the ride. Players in and players out, in a variety of ways, concluded a mad-cap window in which records were broken and fans were left feeling mixed emotions.

Few complaints can be had over the six arrivals, players who solved problem areas, improved the first team or provided depth in areas of the squad sorely lacking.

The total outlay was a club record amount, the £50m parted with for Ben White was also a new highest total for a defender while Aaron Ramsdale’s acquisition wasn’t only the most the club have spent on a goalkeeper but enough to make him the ninth most expensive ever.

He could rise in those rankings depending on whether certain add-ons are met.

In regards to departures it was somewhat less headline-grabbing. Only Joe Willock moved on for a fee this window following his £25m move to Newcastle, with the rest of the departures made up over a variety of loan methods.

More would have been preferable, not only for finance but to free up the squad, and with certain transfer windows still open for business there could be three more departures in some capacity.

Despite suffering an injury on international duty, Sead Kolasinac still has every chance of being moved on. He just wants his money, first. How that will come about it unlikely to be in the form of a permanent transfer with Fenerbahce baulking at his and his agent’s huge salary demands, therefore some form of contract termination is inevitable.

Mohamed Elneny is the other attracting interest from Turkey as he mulls over two contract offers presented to him from sides in the division. A player with no future at Arsenal beyond his current deal – that expires in 2022 – Arteta has to decide whether he can manage the season with only four central midfielders.

It’s a risk that boasts the positive aspect of having more deadwood moved on with the caveat of being left frightfully short in that department.

And then there is Cedric. Oh how everyone would love to see Cedric moved on. As per football.london he has no intention of doing so, but if the club receive an offer and inform him he has no place in this side, especially after Ainsley Maitland-Niles stayed and Takehiro Tomiyasu was signed, will he cave into the idea of regular football elsewhere? Or does he too prefer the tasty salary Arsenal stupidly gave him?

Like the other two it’s Turkey where he’s been most heavily rumoured.

Next. Pressure now on experience. dark

Two of those moving on would be hugely welcome departures. One less so as it relies too heavily on fitness issues suddenly becoming non-existent. There could still be some movement.
