Arsenal Can Sell Ainsley Maitland-Niles if They Sign a New Central Midfielder

Arsenal would sell Maitland-Niles if the right offer came in. That’s a fairly universal viewpoint for most of the squad.

What could Arsenal expect to receive for his services? Is £15m reasonable? Perhaps, but it will also depend on how much he’s utilised in the coming months.

But he isn’t an Arsenal standard central midfielder. He can be a more than serviceable right-back and wing-back, but not a midfielder.

So if the money is acceptable (not that Arsenal are in any place to truly haggle) he should be sold under the proviso that a new central midfielder is brought in. The midfield needed a lift in the summer window but focus turned elsewhere, and it’s set to be an area of the squad that will be courted heavily over the coming transfer periods.

Should an opportunity arise in the winter then it will be taken.

Depending on how Ghana and Egypt fare in Cameroon it may be a case of a new midfielder being needed as well as Maitland-Niles, as even as is the club are looking thin on quality in that department.

If there is one deal to strike in the coming window it is in the engine room, and a permanent move for Maitland-Niles can be the perfect facilitator. This is one that will be interesting to follow as the clock turns 2022.

dark. Next. Arteta can't win - not yet

Idea world scenario: new midfielder comes in on January 1, Maitland-Niles is sold on January 31.

(shame it never works out like that)
