Arsenal may have forked out a stunning £150m on new players across the summer transfer window yet that doesn’t mean they have all the money in the world to spend as they please, or turn down. Wherever it comes from is most welcome.

It sadly didn’t arrive a great deal from sales during the recent transfer window as Joe Willock’s £25m departure was the only substantial cash injection, and the only one to arrive permanently in the summer.

Money is most welcome wherever it will come from, and despite still being owed £8m from Derby County for the sale of Krystian Bielik in 2019, Arsenal have informed the club that they are willing to wait for their payments.

Coughing up surprising £10m for the Polish international despite his limited playing time in red and white, the deal has yet to be paid off. It only included a small upfront fee of £2m, with the rest coming in instalments, yet Derby still owe £8m of that to the Gunners.

Arsenal make stylish financial gesture around the £8m owed from Derby County for Krystian Bielik by deferring a payment worth over £1.4m

The Rams, now in administration, were late paying the instalment in September and due to their dire financial situation could not meet the next £1.4m instalment for October. As such, Arsenal have agreed a deal to defer a payment worth over £1.4m until next year after positive talks, reports the Telegraph.

They’ve still been informed that they will receive the money they’re owed, but will grant the Championship side more time they sorely need.

"Carl Jackson, of Derby’s administrators Quantuma, said: “We’ve had some very positive discussions with Arsenal and they’ve allowed us to defer those payments until a later date.“That has freed up some cash for us and that’s been agreed in writing.“It will certainly help our cash-flow over the course of the next two to three months and also sorts out any threatened embargo from the EFL at the same time.”"

£1.4m won’t change the landscape at Arsenal mid-season and while it can be seen as little in the grand scheme of things, it’s money they’re owed, have been owed for some time, and are yet to recoup. As small as a gesture it may be, it’s nonetheless a classy one that helps out a club in dire straits.

Away from the pitch there have been plenty of decisions made that don’t paint Arsenal in the brightest light, but this one does. It’s a special touch.
