Arsenal transfer update on Noa Lang January bid
As well as things might be going for Arsenal, they can always get better. Whether that is in regards to how the team is performing, which players need to improve certain aspects, or down to adding more quality, one must always look forwards.
In this modern era the quest for improvement almost always boils down to signing new players. It’s all about the transfer market. Few people these days can fathom the idea that there are other ways to change the outlook other than spending tens of millions of pounds.
So the name of Noa Lang is one that has got many watching on licking their lips. The Dutch winger is one of the hot properties on the European market, blending creative nous with superb technical flair and end product.
Arsenal have been linked with the 22-year-old relentlessly over the past few weeks and months, with claims of interest set to be met with a formal bid in January. Voetbal24 in Belgium is providing more information on the matter, adding that while Club Brugge want to keep hold of the €40m rated man until the end of the season, the increasingly concrete interest is giving them a headache.
Arsenal transfer update on Noa Lang January bid as Club Brugge prepare for concrete interest from Mikel Arteta’s side and AC Milan
AC Milan are the other side heavily linked, albeit the player’s preference being to move to the Premier League, although across the media you can find links attributing West Ham, Leeds and Newcastle with a big-money swoop.
Brugge are said to want around £34m for Lang, who has nine goal involvements in 17 matches in all competitions this season, during which time he’s played through the middle, on the left and at No. 10.
These are links that refuse to die down despite Arsenal currently being well stocked in forward areas, with the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe to AFCON probably what is helping stir up speculation of a winter move.
Their absences will be felt, but £30m+ isn’t going to be parted with for the sake of a few matches. If Arsenal are truly interested in Lang then it is with a long-term plan in mind, one that would suggest the departure of Pepe is on the cards.
Despite operating predominately off the right, Pepe’s increasingly frustrating form and upcoming contract situation open the door for some activity in wide areas. Add to that Gabriel Martinelli being in the same two-year contract no-man’s land (there is an additional year option) and undoubtedly frustrated by a lack of playing time, and there could be even more movement.
All of which is speculation built around what is, well, also speculation. Everything at this stage is just old school rumours.
Lang is an extremely exciting prospect who is destined for pastures new outside of the Jupiler Pro League, and until he does, Arsenal’s name will remain in the frame.
