Arsenal agree stunning €80m Dusan Vlahovic transfer
Arsenal are going to need to sign a striker in the coming windows. There is no escaping the need for reinforcements in that department, and work is being done to secure Dusan Vlahovic.
Alexandre Lacazette is enjoying one of his usually promising spells of form under Mikel Arteta. While exceptional work rate and clever connective play has seen him overtake Martin Odegaard in the pecking order, his time in north London is coming to a close.
With a deal running out at the end of the season it is highly unlikely he will pen fresh terms. Nor should the club offer him any. There is always rumours, but it makes little sense from a strategic point of view to continue investing in an ageing striker.
Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah continues to earn praise from Arteta. Two goals in two Carabao Cup outings prompted the manager to call for him to stay, but zero minutes in the Premier League this season, as well as less than 12 months to run on his contract, suggests otherwise.
Arsenal agree stunning €80m Dusan Vlahovic transfer with Fiorentina as Mikel Arteta searches for Lacazette and Aubameyang striker replacements
He isn’t someone to take Arsenal to the next level.
Folarin Balogun is due to be more heavily involved next season, in what will be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s final in red and white, however more is required. The need to invest in a striker is clear, and as per Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal have taken a huge step towards doing so.
According to the Sky Italia journalist, the club have an initial agreement in place for a stunning €80m move for Fiorentina’s Vlahovic, one of Europe’s most prized centre-forwards.
Despite his deal running out in 2023, the Serie A outfit are demanding a huge sum for the Serbian, one Arsenal are said to be willing to meet on top of a series of bonuses. Furthermore, they want to act quick ahead of the plethora of interested parties and bring him in as soon as January. Both clubs are said to be agreed on the move.
The 21-year-old captured the attention of the continent’s big hitters last season as he netted 21 goals in 37 outings for the Italian side. That number is even more impressive once factoring in that Fiorentina finished in a lowly 13th place that term, winning just nine games all season.
Carrying his form over to the current campaign, Vlahovic has netted ten goals in 12 across all competitions, reaffirming his standing as one of the hottest strikers on the market.
Coming from such as source gives this potential transfer substance, following on from reports that have been around for months listing the Gunners as a side heavily interested.
Is there a catch? And, does Vlahovic want to move to Arsenal?
