Bukayo Saka (RW) – One major qualm with switching to a 4-1-4-1 is that the player introduced into the forward line is Nicolas Pepe. That, as we’ve seen every time it’s been utilised, moves Saka out to the left.

It’s not that he’s poor there, he’s just far more effective and dangerous off the right where his out-to-in runs are more fluid, while he also has more technical security in that part of the pitch. Hopefully Arteta sees that now.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (ST) – Arsenal’s pressing machine has scored in each of his previous four Premier League matches at the Emirates Stadium. He’s Arteta’s man and he’s going nowhere.

Emile Smith Rowe (LW) – In terms of physicality Smith Rowe has come on leaps and bounds. His niggling injury issues appear to be behind him and despite starting three matches in eight days he hasn’t shown signs of fatigue.
