Nicolas Jover is earning widespread praise among supporters and onlookers for making this team finally look threatening from set pieces. Already this season Arsenal have matched their tally from dead balls from the entirety of the previous campaign.
Whether in phase one, two or three, the return to classic whipped deliveries has paid dividends. Their six goals is matched by only one other team.

Indeed, the use of set pieces is going to be pivotal on Saturday as the chances for Arsenal aren’t expected to be plentiful. Boasting quality in the deliveries offers another avenue to goal, even if the towering pair of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip are tough nuts to crack in their own box.
They’re also pretty threatening in the other box, too. Last season the Reds were up at the top end of the charts for set piece goals with 12, while the season before it was 17. So, as dangerous as they are with the ball on the ground, the likes of Gabriel, White, and pretty much everyone else, will need to be acutely focused on their man at all times as there is no worse sucker punch than keeping a team at bay in open play only to let your guard down at a set piece.
