Midfielders

Thomas Partey (CM) – On current form, Partey does not deserve be starting ahead of Sambi Lokonga. He’s clearly the more talented footballer, but right now his self-belief is shattered and it’s impacting his and the team’s performances.

However, Arteta will be desperate to get him and Xhaka into some form of rhythm and that might tempt him to keep him in.

Granit Xhaka (CM) – Playing 98 minutes of football despite not having even an Under-23 game to warm up in, Arteta’s utter dependence on the Swiss has already been presented to the world again. He’ll play 90 minutes every game for the rest of the season so long as he’s available.

Xhaka is here to stay.

Martin Odegaard (AM) – Absolutely no way the manager will take the Norwegian out of the team with two well-taken goals from open play in his previous two matches accompanied by solid overall performances (penalty madness aside).

Arsenal need him firing on all cylinders.
