Arsenal player ratings vs Leeds: Martinelli scores twice in 4-1 win

Midfielders

Thomas Partey (CM) – 7/10 – Looks much more confident on the pitch now. It’s been a steady improvement over the past few games and the connection with Xhaka is back to where it was previously. Still not quite there yet.

Granit Xhaka (CM) – 7/10 – Bossed the midfield. Absolutely bossed it. All down that left side Arsenal tore Leeds apart and Xhaka was a bully there and centrally, picking up loose balls, progressing the play and blocking passing lanes.

But, Xhaka is going to Xhaka, right? Did some utterly stupid things that are entirely uncalled for when the team is leading 3-0. Absolute idiocy. It’s like he wants to get sent off.

Martin Odegaard (AM) – 9/10 – A playmaking masterclass from Odegaard. He pulled all the strings in the midfield and acting as the puppet master meant he made all those around look better on the pitch.

His superpower is just that: he brings the best out in everyone else. His understanding of space and the economy of touches is remarkable for someone his age.
