January is almost here and even if the transfer season tends to dominate the headlines, the pile up of fixtures and postponements of others is taking centre stage for more than just Arsenal.

The rumours haven’t stopped swirling around though, and as much as this window might seem like an inconvenience at this point, it’s nonetheless going to be a constant talking point.

Arsenal’s striker situation is all the rave with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being linked with a winter move away and Eddie Nketiah also set to be subject of a few bids following his hat-trick in the Carabao Cup win over Sunderland.

Departures are more likely than incomings, and fans could have been forgiven for forgetting one particular member of the Arsenal squad even existed having not touched the turf since late October.

Arsenal receive shock Sead Kolasinac interest from Watford as Claudio Ranieri eyes January transfer to bolster his defence

Not helped by a nasty ankle injury sustained on international duty, the already peripheral Sead Kolasinac has become even more so since being ruled out of action. Not due to return to full training until January, he is still someone whose future is very much away from Arsenal.

With a contract that is due to expire in the summer, if Arsenal can move him on in the winter and avoid either another contract cancellation or him running down the deal, they’ll snap anyone’s hand off.

Amid talk of a return to Germany or a move to join Mesut Ozil in Turkey, some shock Premier League interest has emerged from just next door.

As per the Telegraph, Watford have been watching the Bosnian with an eye on bolstering their defensive ranks in the January window.

Despite naturally being a left-back, Claudio Ranieri wants a centre-back and has feels Kolasinac could be a viable option to come in and play that position for the second half of the season. It’s not somewhere he’s entirely unfamiliar with, yet when he has played there it has been on the left side of a three.

There is no mention of whether the Hornets want to sign him on a permanent deal or just take him on a six-month loan that frees Arsenal of his wages for the remainder of his contract, but if they’re willing, then by all means, take him.

Earning around £100k-per-week, if he were to leave today it would spare Arsenal around £2.7m in wages, for a player who might get on the bench for an FA Cup third round tie.
