Even if it is an important topic of debate and an area of the squad that will need tending to perhaps as soon as January, Arsenal have been able to enjoy the past few weeks without being overly concerned by strikers.

It’s lingered in the background, but the form of Alexandre Lacazette in Aubameyang’s stead has helped keep speculation about the future calmer than usual with his battling performances and suitable profile for the young players in the squad.

He will, of course, need replacing in the not too distant future, as may others in the squad depending on how active Arsenal are in the winter window, and who the club bring in to replace the others is among the more important signings they’ll make during this rebuild.

With the way the team is composed, the piece that can elevate Arsenal to the next level is at centre-forward. In many eyes, a younger, faster and taller Lacazette would suit perfectly.

A mountain of names have been mentioned in recent weeks for players with differing profiles, as the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Arthur Cabral, Jonathan David and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been banded about in connection with the Gunners.

One of the newer names to emerge among the rest is Patrik Schick, who has emerged as a potential 2022 target for a number of Premier League clubs, including Manchester City.

A standout name at Euro 2020 in the summer, notably scoring from his own half against Scotland to get a nomination for the Puskas awards, the Czech international has continued his fine form into club level where his tally of 16 goals for Bayer Leverkusen has him second in the Bundesliga top scoring charts.

As per 90min, his admirable numbers have attracted the gazes of West Ham, Tottenham, Everton, City and Arsenal, while Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick is a big fan having signed him back when he was at RB Leipzig.

The aforementioned names have all been watching him over in Germany with positive scouting reports aplenty, although Leverkusen find themselves in a position of strength and, understandably, are in no rush to sell.

Paying around £20m for him 15 months ago, Schick is tied down on a contract running until 2025 and due to that could command a fee in the region of £50m minimum. Add to that a mid-season sale and the German side may even demand more.

These are numbers that are hard to ignore, however, with Schick joint second in Europe for goals scored this season. If Arsenal are keen you can see why, but is he the striker for them from a profile perspective? Let’s take a look.
