3. Miguel Azeez

Miguel Azeez burst onto the Arsenal scene when he made his debut for the first team last season in the Europa League. It was a big step not just for his development, but it showed what the coaching staff think of him. They clearly believe in his ability. Most do.

Yet, with no Europe this season, there haven’t been any opportunities for the midfielder. Arteta and co saw this in the summer and sent him off on loan to Portsmouth.

Unfortunately, there haven’t been enough opportunities at Portsmouth either. While he has impressed in his brief cameos, he hasn’t had the regular football he needs to ready himself for the rigors of first team football which led to his recall from the League One side this window. While the intricacies of why players are not played can’t always be predicted, it is crucial that Arteta and Edu get his next club right.

Another club in League One looks likely for the 19-year-old, with Pompey boss Danny Cowley stating that he leaves the south coast side ‘a better player’. His next move will be hugely important.

Arsenal youth products have been key in both saving and making money in the transfer windows, and while the club have acted quick to bring players back from unsuccessful loans, they must use them to greater effect as they continue to evolve the squad.
