Arsenal have no time to soak up the joys of nine wins in their last 11 Premier League outings as they are back at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday to host Liverpool. Here is the match preview.

Back into the top four with a 2-0 win over Leicester on Sunday, this grueling run of three games in six days has the small matter of Jurgen Klopp’s side sandwiched in the middle. It will be the fourth time these two have met this season, with the Reds boasting an aggregate lead of 6-0.

The reverse meeting at Anfield back in November brought the Gunners crashing back down to earth.

Mikel Arteta’s side were on a run of eight matches without defeat in the Premier League and there were some lingering hopes that they could be competitive on a ground where they are so often turned over.

While far from threatening, it still took until the 39th minute for Sadio Mane to break the deadlock from a set piece when it looked as though Arsenal would go into the half level. What happened after the break needn’t be reminisced about.

Are Arsenal a different team now? You can’t possibly argue that they’re not.

Garnering widespread praise for their performances of late, a statement win over some of the finest opposition in the world would send out the sternest of messages.

Not only would it give them a firm grip on Champions League football, it would strike fear into those around them; it would demoralise their rivals.
