4. Which Nuno Tavares Will Show Up?

Oh, Nuno. Whatever will we do with you?

Having a disaster against Manchester United despite scoring his first Gunners’ goal, Nuno followed up that display with another fear-inducing showing against West Ham. Positionally all over the place, weak in his duels and giving the ball away in sloppy areas, nothing seemed to be going right.

Even when he did find a teammate with a pass it was often over-hit, plunging his side into tense moments conjured of their own doing.

But he steadied himself. From around the time Gabriel got the winning goal he settled, found crispness to his play and avoided being caught out in transition with his positioning in tandem with Gabriel Martinelli much improved.

It is frustrating as he has natural physical tools that other players would dream of. Physically dominant, how he carries the ball at pace and breezes beyond opponents, whether on the interior or exterior, can be devastating.

Equally, he can be all over the shop defensively, make the simple elements look perilously difficult, and cause pure carnage when his side just need to take their foot off the accelerate for a second.

Carrying over the final 30 minutes from the London Stadium into the beginning of this game is essential. The outcome of the Tottenham game will be known by then and the nerves will crank up if sloppy giveaways happen early doors.
