Tottenham have joined the race for Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus, but the Gunners remain confident of securing the Brazilian’s signature this season.

Jesus lifted his fourth Premier League title on Sunday afternoon as Manchester City scored three times in five scintillating minutes to wipe out Aston Villa’s 2-0 lead. The unsung forward contributed to 17 league goals for the title-winners in 2021/22, but he is now ready to embark on a new challenge.

Arsenal’s interest in the player has been evident for some time now, and the club have been proactive in their attempt to bring the Brazilian to north London this summer. However, they risk being gazumped by their bitter rivals for Jesus’ signature.

Tottenham have entered the race for Arsenal transfer target Gabriel Jesus – but Gunners still confident

The Telegraph reported on Monday morning that Antonio Conte’s Spurs are eyeing a move for City’s Jesus this summer.

The Lilywhites secured Champions League football at Arsenal’s expense on the final day, and this could be a deciding factor in Jesus’ decision regarding his next club. The player’s agent, Marcelo Pettinati, confirmed earlier this month that he has already held talks with the Gunners before claiming that as many as six clubs are in the race for his client’s services.

According to The Telegraph’s exclusive report, Pettinati is said to be aware of Tottenham’s interest with Conte desperate to add another forward to Spurs’ ranks.

However, the Brazilian is keen to leave City this summer in search of regular first-team football. That’s something Spurs can’t guarantee.

On the contrary, Jesus could become a key building block in Mikel Arteta’s exciting project at the Emirates. The Gunners view the forward as a priority target, and Fabrizio Romano understands that this stance hasn’t changed despite the club failing to secure a top-four spot.

The Cityzens are said to value Jesus at around the £45m mark with Arsenal yet to open talks with the Premier League champions.
