5. Damaging Tottenham defeat
Heading into the most talked-about North London Derby of the last decade, Arsenal were still in the box seat for a Champions League spot. Four points clear and with a chance to clinch it on enemy territory.
What followed was a capitulation at the most inopportune time. The Gunners started well enough, but before long, the same mistakes came back to bite them as Rob Holding was shown his marching orders in the first half to effectively end it as a contest.
Spurs would go on to win 3-0 but Arsenal still had control of their destiny as they led their bitter rivals by a single point with games against Newcastle and Everton to come.
It was a huge missed opportunity for Arsenal to punch their ticket into Europe’s premier club competition. Instead, they wilted in front of a vociferous Lilywhite crowd.
