Player of the Season: Bukayo Saka – It was another standout season for our ‘Little Chilli’ as he once again lit up the domestic scene and claimed the club honour of top scorer with 12 goals. In addition to his impressive attacking numbers, Saka also showed tremendous character to resume his talismanic role at Arsenal after the heartbreak of Euro 2020, and his remarkable consistency has made him an indispensable figure in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Signing of the Summer: Martin Ødegaard – Despite making a slow start to life in north London, Odegaard finally cemented his starting spot in late November and he hasn’t looked back since. Blessed with great awareness and a deft touch to unlock any defence, the former Madrid man elevates our attacking play to another level and has a knack for getting on the scoresheet himself, as well as exhibiting leadership qualities that may see him bestowed with the captain’s armband in the near future.

Goal of the Season: Alexandre Lacazette vs Southampton – A predictable but nonetheless deserving choice that captures what Arsenal are all about. This team effort involved courage and composure to build from the back in difficult circumstances, and it was rounded off with a clinical finish by the experienced Frenchman to set us on our way to three important points. Poetry in motion.

Best Performance: Manchester City (H) – It feels unusual to select a match that ended in defeat, but the New Year’s Day clash against Man City featured a complete display, full of intense pressing, organisation and skilful attacking play. If only we had kept 11 men on the pitch…

LOL Moment of the Season: Aaron Ramsdale’s taunt vs Leicester City – His larger-than-life personality immediately endeared him to the Arsenal faithful, but it has had quite the opposite effect on rival supporters, and none more so than those at the King Power. His playful interaction brought a smile to our faces and later inspired a brilliant advert to promote local business. Let’s hope for more of the same next season.
