The best reason for extending the Egyptian’s contract. Elneny is likely not commanding a ridiculous wage each week

Essentially in Elneny, Arsenal has maintained its midfield depth for next season and has not overpaid to do so. The club is expected to add at least one more body in the midfield with two likely to be the number many want.

Unlike in previous years when astronomical amounts were paid to players, only for them to sit on the bench, Elneny will be playing his part next season.

Not a flashy signing, nor did it have to be. But Arteta has kept the squad together and done it without testing the purse strings. With several players returning from loans, such as Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari, Reiss Nelson, etc; those players will garner additional funds to ensure that top-quality players are signed at the requisite positions.

Many fans are against the extension of the 29-year-old, but it is good business for the club, and for once, they haven’t broken the bank to do so.
