Breaking onto the scene with short hair and a burst of pace that would make Usain Bolt jealous, injuries have hampered Bellerin at every step of his career. It’s been difficult to watch the energetic youngster with bags of potential quickly evolve into an aged player struggling to reach the level he was once at.

His loan move to Real Betis, however, has been wonderful for him. As sappy as it may sound, he has found joy in football again. He’s gotten minutes, he’s performed well and, most importantly, he’s happy. While few could argue that he needed to be moved on, his long stay at the club, his outspoken nature, leadership and activism has enamored many fans. If there is one player who deserves to go where he wants, it’s Bellerin.

Bellerin’s sale to Real Betis or to another Spanish club is the right move for both the club and player. He has outlived his usefulness in the current setup and although he may be better than Cedric as a backup, going from starting regularly for Real Betis to warming the bench at Arsenal is not something he’s looking for. Hopefully, he can get the move he deserves.
