Alexandre Lacazette – C-

The Frenchman scored just six times in his 36 appearances in all competitions, which is not good enough. Did provide eight assists, but Mikel Arteta got fed up with the 31-year-old, and he lost his starting spot to Eddie Nketiah for the last seven games. A disappointing way to end his Arsenal career.

Nicolas Pepe – D

A poor season for the Ivorian as since the December 18 game against Crystal Palace, he did not manage more than 22 minutes of game time when he did come on. He played 23 games in all competitions and scored just three times. He played the full 90 minutes in five of Arsenal’s opening eight games but was barely sighted after. He was reduced to a bit-part player as the lack of games available hurt him.

Eddie Nketiah – B+

Nketiah was mainly used as a substitute until Arsenal’s game against Chelsea in April. Having barely got a sniff, he took his chances and finished the season in style with five goals in his last seven games to announce that he is worthy of more game time to the club and fans. Still, a lot to work on, but offers more than Lacazette, hence the Frenchman’s benching. A poor start to the year but an excellent finish.

Gabriel Martinelli – B

Gabby had his best return for the club in all areas after a slow burn to start the year. He scored six goals and grabbed seven assists in his 36 games in all competitions. His ability to turn defenders inside out consistently was a joy to watch. He hit a purple patch in which he scored three goals in two games against West Ham and Leeds as his finishing ability was on show. A decent season for Martinelli without being exceptional, although he was simply breathtaking to watch at times.
