After a bright start to his Arsenal career, Mesut Ozil’s end came in rather sour circumstances, with many questioning Mikel Arteta’s decision to cut bait. Now, however, Arteta has proved to be on the money as the German is having similar problems with his current team.

There will be fewer player decisions that caused such a divide between the Arsenal fanbase like the end of Mesut Ozil’s Gunners career.

Signed from Real Madrid to unfathomable delight, the German quickly became a crowd favourite with his sublime technical skills, eye for a pass, and ridiculously creative brain.

However, towards the end of his tenure in north London, several off-field issues and disharmony among the Gunners ranks saw Arteta flex his managerial muscle and cast the German aside, sometimes to the team’s detriment. With Ozil now out but still on the books, Arsenal’s creative ability was severely lacking, but the Spaniard stuck to his guns with Ozil essentially exiled.

Mikel Arteta has been proven right over his Mesut Ozil decision

Many of the Gunners faithful thought Arteta should have been relieved of his duties for his treatment of the German, with many saying it was unjust and unfair. Arsenal would then move on from the talented German as he sought a move back to Turkey with Fenerbahce after the club decided to terminate his contract six months early as Ozil moved on as a free agent.

After a happy first season with the Turkish giants as the German seemed at peace, his second season ended the same way as his stint in north London.

Ozil has not played for Fenerbache since March 20 after a disagreement with then-interim head coach Ismail Kartal regarding the midfielder’s fitness. He was similarly exiled from the team like his Arsenal days.

If the German had any hopes of reviving his career with the Turkish giants after new manager Jorge Jesus was appointed, he is sadly mistaken.

Per The Daily Mail, Jesus spoke for the first time since his appointment on Wednesday and reiterated the same stance as his predecessor. He stated that Ozil would not be a part of the squad anymore while also saying that it is in the club’s best interests that the German doesn’t appear again in Fenerbache colours.
