Youri Tielemans has been on Arsenal’s radar since the curtain came down on the club’s 2021/22 campaign, with the midfielder hinting that a move isn’t out of the question this summer.

It is no secret that Arsenal needs midfield reinforcements. Thomas Partey has established himself as the number one guy in the single pivot, but his injury woes continued last season, while an upgrade is required on Granit Xhaka as the left-sided #8.

If Arsenal are to take the next step, then improvements to the first-team squad need to be made in the way of new signings.

One such player is Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans. With only 12 months left on his current deal, a fee of just £25 million could be enough to secure the services of the Belgian.

He ticks just about every box for the Gunners. A superb passer who has Premier League experience and can similarly dictate games to Partey. He would compliment the Ghanaian and Martin Odegaard perfectly. But Leicester could be inclined to keep a hold of their star man and risk losing him for nothing next summer. Although unlikely, it is a possibility.

Summer move possible for Tielemans

The player himself recently spoke about his future and was coy about a possible move away from the King Power Stadium this summer.

"“That is not out of the question (move clubs),” Tielemans said (via GOAL).“I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I’ll give everything for the club until the last day.“But of course you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.”"

This is not an admission that he will certainly be leaving the Foxes, but the door is open for a move away.

The need to strengthen the midfield area is on par with the most critical part of Arsenal’s summer plans, along with signing a new striker. It has been a problem issue for what seems like forever since Patrick Vieira retired.

One, maybe two players will be signed to the midfield position this summer, and Arsenal could have a gem in Tielemans should a deal be agreed upon.

With the player himself hinting that the chance to move on is there, the Gunners must take the opportunity with both hands and thrash out a deal.

Getting players in early is paramount as we do not want to be waiting with bated breath on deadline day for a big signing to be announced.

GO GET IT DONE.
