5 of Arsenal’s biggest fixtures in the 2022/23 Premier League season

With the Premier League fixtures being released, Arsenal know exactly who they will play and when, but five fixtures have caught the eye.

The Premier League season is less than two months away and, after the fixture reveal, fans can now begin to plot their away days at Fulham and their seats for blockbusters against Tottenham and Liverpool.

During each season, there is a run of fixtures or a single game that fans dread or look at with far more intent than others. While every match against the so-called ‘Big Six’ is critical for a title challenge or a top-four bid, other games are equally important for different reasons.

Here are five of Arsenal’s most important fixtures for the 2022/23 Premier League season

1. August 5 – Season opener vs Crystal Palace (A)

A no-brainer, right? Getting off to a good start is imperative for any team, but there’s added incentive for Arsenal after they were demolished 3-0 by Patrick Vieira’s men at Selhurst Park in April. The defeat would start a three-game losing streak for Mikel Arteta’s side and could be looked back on as the game that cost Arsenal a top-four spot.

Had the Gunners won either of those three games, Champions League football might have been obtained. Arsenal and Arteta will want to right the wrongs of last year and they’ll get to do it at the first time of asking.

Away, under lights to kick off the Premier League season. The whole country will be watching to see what kind of performance Arsenal put out. Getting three points to start the season is imperative to keep the feel-good mood around the club. Last season, Brentford stung a patched-up Gunners side 2-0. We do not want another three-game losing streak to start the campaign.
