3 unrealistic signings for Arsenal upcoming Premier League Season
By Krish Ajmani
At a club in such dire need of rebuilding, every player will be linked with Arsenal. Each position either needs a direct replacement or a squad player to improve depth. As such, all links will make sense in one way or another. Some signings, however, are done purely for views. For clicks and engagements.
Agents and even players themselves often try to generate rumours for themselves. Agents want higher fees and players want moves away. All of this contributes to the whirlwind of reports, rumours and talks regarding player purchases and sales.
3 unrealistic (impossible) signings that’d be perfect for Arsenal
Mikel Arteta and Edu will be working to complete these transfers as soon as possible. Until the window closes, there will continue to be wild links. Here are three unrealistic signings for the upcoming Premier League season.
3. Sadio Mane
Arsenal’s defence, when fit, is one of the best in the Premier League. There is a formidable mix of experience, physicality, tenacity and defensive nous on display when the first-choice back five is in place. The difficulties last season came primarily at the other end.
Alexandre Lacazette could not provide a steady goal supply while the young players around him suffered from growing pains.
Emile Smith Rowe started the campaign brilliantly but was hit with injuries. Bukayo Saka was one of Arsenal’s best players but found it difficult to last the entire season and provide the same impact as he can on his day. Gabriel Martinelli has improved greatly but continues to adjust to his role on the left-hand side.
When there are several young players in and around the first team, the importance of experienced seniors cannot be overstated. They take the pressure off of the youngsters, provide knowledge of certain situations and give competition for starting places. Experienced players in the attacking positions were scarce, if not nonexistent.
Sadio Mane would alleviate this issue. At 30 years old, he is still comfortably in his prime. After his move from Southampton, he slotted into a Liverpool team that has since won numerous trophies, including the Premier League and the Champions League.
Despite certain antics on the pitch, Mane is nothing short of astonishingly generous off it. Tired of the relentless challenge of trophies, he may be interested in doing some volunteer work by mentoring the likes of Martinelli and Smith Rowe.
Come on, Sadio. What has Munich seriously got on Islington?
