Fabio Vieira’s move to Arsenal is just about signed, sealed, and delivered with only the club announcement to come, and the 22-year-old knows how tough the Premier League will be.

The signing of Fabio Vieira caught every person on the planet off guard. With the Gunners thought to be entirely focused on securing deals for Youri Tielemans and Gabriel Jesus, the agreement for Vieira went on quietly in the background.

The 22-year-old will bolster Arsenal’s creative ranks and provide competition for Martin Odegaard, as he is a superb playmaker with an eye for a pass. With seven goals and 16 assists for Porto last season, Vieira operated at the team’s #8 and #10. Two positions he can fully take hold of in the Arsenal setup.

While signing for a big club like Arsenal is one thing, playing in the toughest league in the world is another thing entirely. Over the years, players from other leagues have struggled to make an impact. Just look at Nicolas Pepe.

The winger took all before him in Ligue 1 but failed to make any consistent impact for Mikel Arteta’s side.

What did Fabio Vieira say?

For Vieira, he is fully aware of what is in front of him now. Speaking to The Mirror, the creative star said that playing in England will not be easy and that he promises to continually work to get up to speed with the pace and intensity of the league. He also said he was happy at Porto, but a chance to come to the Premier League ultimately proved too strong to ignore.

"“I was always happy at Porto but this chance is important for any professional,” Vieira said.“Playing in the Premier League won’t be easy and I promise only to work, work, work.“My agent worked on the deal between the two clubs and I accepted the deal because it was important for all parties. I have always watched the Premier League on TV.”"

The reported £35m transfer is not fully completed yet, but several reports are floating around that it should be wrapped up any day now.

The Gunners are still moving forward with deals for Gabriel Jesus, Youri Tielemans, and reportedly Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez. After a few days that saw both Manchester City (Erling Haaland) and Liverpool (Darwin Nunez) begin their summers with a bang, the Gunners were eerily quiet.

However, things have quickly gathered pace as Vieira’s deal, coupled with reported significant movement on the Jesus deal and the interest in Martinez, has fans breathing a little easier as Arsenal finally seem to be getting moving.
