One wouldn’t be derided if they thought they were looking at a university classroom while actually looking at the Arsenal dressing room, such is the number of youngsters in the squad. There is certainly a benefit to this youthfulness, however. The squad is brimming with energy, passion, talent and, most importantly, a willingness to learn.

While the young stars like Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah carried Arsenal at times last season, they fall short in some aspects. They lack experience and, besides the FA Cup win, they lack a winning mentality. Arsenal’s transfer targets provide that in abundance.

Jesus has been an integral part of a historic Manchester City side, winning trophy after trophy. In Amsterdam, Martinez has served as the often unsung hero in title- and cup-winning Ajax sides. Both understand what it takes to win trophies while still being young and developing.
