Emile Smith Rowe

Handed the No.10 shirt after his impressive outings during the 2020/21 season, Emile Smith Rowe again improved on his output; netting 11 times and grabbing two assists in his 37 games in all competitions.

In the first 14 league games, Smith Rowe scored five times, three of which came in consecutive games against Aston Villa, Leicester City, and Watford. He again scored in three successive games five matches later.

He netted against West Ham, Norwich, and Leeds; which took his tally to eight goals through 18 games in the league. Not too shabby. But after the Boxing Day game against Norwich, Smith Rowe would only score two more times for the season.

His season fell by the wayside and he’d end up being relegated to the bench for the most part. He was a used substitute for his last four games and did not see the field against Everton on the final day of the season.

Whether it was a case of the campaign taking its toll or the COVID and injury interruptions, Smith Rowe faded severely towards the end of the season.

He has everything needed to take his game to another level in 2022/23, however. His ability to take the ball on the half-turn, his body feints, and his capacity to find space where there is none are all qualities he can build on.

Still only 21, our ‘Croydon De Bruyne’ can hit a new level of play with ease this upcoming season.
