Lee Dixon, for many, is just the voice of certain American footballing broadcasts on television. Yet were Ashley Cole to not exist, he would also easily be the number one full-back on this all-time Arsenal list.

As it stands, he’ll just have to settle for the best right back in the club’s illustrious history.

Dixon is, to put it bluntly, a legend of the club, and his success under two of the most famous Gunner bosses of the last forty years – George Graham and Arsene Wenger – has left him regarded quite highly by multiple generations of footballing supporters. While Cole played for several teams across England and the world, Dixon played nearly every single match of his 560-match club career – other than two with Stoke City – as a Gunner, either away or at Highbury.

His 25 goals and 14 assists for Arsenal are impressive – especially during his era – and his standing as an Arsenal legend is beyond critique with all that he was able to do for and with the club over a decade of service.
