3 positives and negatives from Arsenal’s pre-season win over Everton

Arsenal kicked off their pre-season tour well with a convincing 2-0 win over Everton. The Gunners looked up to the task from the kickoff and gave everyone hopefully a good look into how they’ll play this season.

Positive #1 – Fans

The crowd seemed hyped at the match with Arsenal fans coming in droves to see the team play. For many supporters, it was likely their first time or one of the very few times they have ever gotten to see the team in person.

Even though it was preseason it was seemingly a great experience for the American fans. With a team like Arsenal and its massive global fanbase, it is awesome to see fans get to see their team live without making a trip to London.

Negative #1: Commentary

The official stream for the match that wasn’t from either of the clubs was a tough one to listen to.

From mispronouncing player names to implying that Bukayo Saka has to beat out Nicolas Pepe for the starting spot still, it was a very disappointing experience with that. Commentary, especially good commentary is a tough skill and sometimes you just don’t have a good crew.

As an American, I am disappointed in it because I feel it sets back views of Americans in the sport if that is what we sound like talking about it.

Also, Heather O’Reilly played for Arsenal and is a fan so I was disappointed that she didn’t seem to know what she was talking about at times.
