Positive #3 – Gabriel Jesus

The new man put on a show once again with a goal and an assist in the first half. Everything Jesus has done so far has been unbelievably impressive.

He seems to be getting along great with his new teammates and the front three we saw on Saturday of him, Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli could shape up to be a dangerous attacking line.

The Brazilian’s movement was absolutely incredible while his high press looked to be at midseason form. I speak for every Arsenal fan when I can’t emphasise enough how excited I am for this guy.

Negative #3 – Deadwood

The second half did not reach even close to the heights of the first for either team.

The second teams were out and, especially for Arsenal, there were only a few bright spots with Eddie Nketiah looking great once again and 17-year-old Reuell Walters also looking bright. The likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Pepe, Hector Bellerin, and Pablo Mari, however, all looked disinterested and not up for it. Hopefully, the club can find moves for them all this summer.

As a byproduct, it is a disappointment to see these players as opposed to young guys like Charlie Patino, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, and Marcelo Flores get a chance to impress with the first team. Hopefully, this deadwood won’t be at the club by the time the window slams shut, time will tell.
