Arsenal 4-0 Chelsea: Player ratings as Gunners dominate Blues in Florida Cup
Arsenal rounded off their US tour with a resounding 4-0 victory over London rivals Chelsea in the Florida Cup.
The Gunners were dominant from the outset, taking advantage of a Chelsea outfit that looked undercooked and unsure in their fresh 4-2-3-1 system. The Blues struggled to build up in the face of a rampant Arsenal press, and Mikel Arteta’s men were able to sustain pressure as a result.
Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring midway through the first half with a deft flick over Edouard Mendy before their lead was doubled before the break via a pinpoint Martin Odegaard finish.
Chelsea recuperated at the break and reverted to their typical back three which saw them improve, but it was the Gunners who bagged the third goal through Bukayo Saka.
The pace of the contest dwindled as both managers rung the changes, with Arsenal waltzing home to a comfortable 4-0 triumph after Albert Sambi Lokonga put the finishing touches on the win with a header from close range.
Here are the Arsenal player ratings from Saturday night’s victory in the Florida Cup.
Goalkeeper & Defenders
Aaron Ramsdale (GK) – 7/10 – Rarely tested and stellar distribution. This was a good night for Rambo,
Ben White (RB) – 6/10 – Comfortable defensively and got on the overlap regularly. Important minutes for White after recovering from a minor issue.
William Saliba (CB) – 7.5/10 – Yep, Arsenal have got a good one. It wasn’t the busiest night for Saliba but every action he performed was assured. Super quick recovery runner.
Gabriel (CB) – 7/10 – The Brazilian’s aggression deterred Kai Havertz, who wasn’t given a sniff by the Arsenal defence. Like Saliba, Gabriel wasn’t particularly busy despite playing the full 90 but he didn’t put a foot wrong
Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB) – 6/10 – Slotted in seamlessly at left-back and produced several moments of technical brilliance before he was substituted at half-time.
