The transfer window is a game of dominos, there are a lot of moving parts, especially in the Premier League. With all the money that most English teams can give out, it results in many of its players staying within the league when transferring as we’ve already seen from some of Arsenal’s incoming transfers this year.

Such is the case with the potential transfer of goalkeeper Bernd Leno. The German, who has just a year left on his contract, was displaced as Arsenal’s number one by Aaron Ramsdale last season and the Englishman’s rise rendered Leno’s departure this summer to be inevitable.

All reports indicate that Leno will be staying in England, and has agreed to terms with Fulham.

Could Arsenal use Bernd Leno to bring Youri Tielemans to the Emirates?

When it comes to dominos falling, Kasper Schmeichel is set to leave Leicester City this summer for Nice in France. Reports then emerged of the Foxes being interested in signing Leno as a potential replacement for the Dane. This creates something interesting. Not only does the interest likely raise Arsenal’s price from the measly £8m that Fulham are willing to pay, but Leicester also possess someone that the Gunners want: Youri Tielemans.

Arsenal have been long-standing admirers of the Belgian midfielder but they’re yet to submit an official bid to the Foxes. An interest in Leno could have the potential to cut the asking price in half which makes the deal too good to be true.

Tielemans fills the need at the left-sided #8 position. He is 25 and, like Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, is Premier League proven. The move has made sense for a while and if Leicester’s interest in Leno is genuine, it could be the key to getting a deal done for Tielemans.

As with anything in the summer, we’ll have to wait and see but this seems like a deal that could work out great for all parties.
