Why Blackpool loan is perfect for Charlie Patino
By Adam Schultz
Charlie Patino is reportedly close to sealing a loan move to Championship side Blackpool, a move that will only benefit the 18-year-old.
Young Arsenal sensation Charlie Patino is reportedly on the verge of sealing a move away from the Gunners. Please don’t fret; it is only a loan to Championship side Blackpool.
Jeorge Bird first reported the rumours of the youngster joining Michael Appleton’s side, and it appears it was on the mark. A loan move away is the best thing for the creative midfielder.
He will likely not see much game time this season for Arsenal aside from cup competitions and the odd appearance in the Europa League. What he needs right now is first-team football.

If the loan move goes through, it will do him wonders. I am reasonably sure that Mikel Arteta will have a clause in Patino’s contract stating that he must play first-team football.
Last year, Patino scored on his debut in the Carabao Cup against Sunderland. He also featured in Arsenal’s FA Cup loss to Nottingham Forest, but aside from that, no first-team football for the midfielder.
So far in his young Arsenal career, Patino has played for the U18s (25 appearances) and U21/23s (22 appearances) and has shown his supreme quality.
We have seen how well loan moves have worked out for Arsenal players before, and in Patino’s case, this one will be no different as Appleton is known for giving youth players a chance. Playing regular football is the best thing for a player his age, not playing in the U21/23 teams. Against proper footballers in the Championship.

There will likely be an adjustment period for the 18-year-old, but from what we have seen from him already, it is nothing he can’t handle.
Arteta prefers to send him out on loan rather than have him as a bit part player. Just look at William Saliba and what his loan moves did for his game. The move could also fast-track his development, and next season, when he is only 19 years of age, he could feature more prominently in the Arsenal setup.
The only thing is that Patino needs to see game time. We have seen instances where players are loaned out and do not see consistent minutes.
Should the move be completed, only good things can come out of it, and with the potential of Charlie Patino, it could be a very successful loan move.
