Crystal Palace vs Arsenal preview: How to watch on TV, live stream, team news & prediction
The Premier League is BACK, ladies and gentlemen, and Mikel Arteta’s showtime Gunners are primed to send out a statement to the rest of the division at Selhurst Park.
For the second season running, Arsenal will kick off the new season on a Friday night away from home and Arteta will be hoping for a much better outcome on this occasion after Brentford bullied his side on opening night last time out.
Arsenal, however, are in a superior position now than they were this time last year. They’ve enjoyed a fantastic pre-season and transfer window thus far, with supporters incredibly optimistic over their side’s chances in 2022/23.
On the contrary, Crystal Palace’s preparations haven’t been ideal. Ten senior players weren’t allowed to travel for their tour of Australia last month which set them back somewhat.
Nevertheless, the Eagles will certainly prove to be a tough test for Arteta’s side on Friday night. The Gunners were thumped 3-0 by Patrick Vieira’s men on this ground in April, and they’ve won just one of their last eight meetings with their opening opponents of the new season.

Crystal Palace Team News
Palace have seen last season’s star midfielder Conor Gallagher return to Chelsea, but they did bring in Cheick Doucoure from Lens and he’s set to make his first Premier League start on Friday night.
Vieira won’t be able to call upon new goalkeeper Sam Johnstone due to a thigh injury, meaning Vicente Guaita should start between the sticks.
Michael Olise is also unlikely to feature after picking up a foot injury, while midfielder James McArthur will also be missing.
Arsenal Team News
Emile Smith Rowe has been ruled out of the season opener, while full-backs Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu are likely to miss out.
Ben White should start at right-back with new arrival Oleksandr Zinchenko joining William Saliba and Gabriel in defence.
Gabriel Jesus will make his first league start for the club, while Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are all in contention. Fabio Vieira will miss out.

Prediction
A makeshift XI was bullied at the Brentford Community Stadium on opening night last season, and there’s no doubting that the Gunners will have to mitigate a raucous Selhurst Park on Friday night.
However, their preparation for the new season has been superb and they’re in a brilliant position to take all three points from a Palace side that’ll be without Michael Olise. Patrick Vieira’s side looks well-balanced on paper, though, and they certainly possess the talent in attack to test an Arsenal backline that’s looked imperious in pre-season.
The Gunners were thumped on this ground back in April, but I don’t envisage lightning striking twice. It’ll be a fraught and frenetic bout with goals at both ends of the pitch. Gabriel Jesus will be the difference, however.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal
