Out of the players on this list, Pablo Mari is arguably the only one with a clear role to play in the squad. Gabriel was immense last season and is poised for another brilliant campaign. After the Brazilian, however, there is remarkably little to fit Arteta’s mould.

The manager prefers balance in the squad, with left-footed defenders playing on the left side. With Mari the only other left-footed centre-back, he could assimilate back into the team as Gabriel’s backup. Despite this clear opening, Mari is so poor that he must be sold.

Mari boasts a towering stature but is slow and unathletic. He does not read the game well and is simply not good enough, even as a backup. Ship him out and continue the outgoings.
