Arsenal tie down talented teenager to contract extension
18-year-old Brooke Norton-Cuffy has extended his contract at Arsenal and the Gunners are poised to loan the right-back out to the Championship for the 2022/23 season.
Norton-Cuffy recently won the Under-19 European Championships with England off the back of a stellar loan spell in League One with Lincoln City.
The teenager described his time with the Imps as the “best thing” for his development as he was handed a ton of opportunities to impress during the second half of last season under Michael Appleton.
Appleton has since taken the Blackpool job and he’ll have the task of nurturing Arsenal loanee Charlie Patino in the second tier this season.
Norton-Cuffy, meanwhile, is poised to join Patino in the Championship after extending his contract with the Gunners.

Norton-Cuffy returned to Arsenal this summer with plenty of suitors following his eye-opening spell at Lincoln. The full-back had just a year remaining on his Gunners deal, but The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported on Monday that he has penned a contract extension with the club.
Ornstein added that Arsenal are looking to loan out the defender to the Championship for the 2022/23 season.
Injury ruled Norton-Cuffy out of pre-season as 17-year-old Reuell Walters was given his opportunity in the first team. Walters impressed on his senior debut against FC Nurnberg before being named on the club’s US tour.
Arsenal will ensure that Norton-Cuffy’s integration into Mikel Arteta’s squad isn’t rushed. The 18-year-old’s senior career has started brightly and a loan move to the Championship makes a lot of sense. The right-back will undoubtedly garner several suitors and it’ll be interesting to see whether Appleton pushes to reunite with Norton-Cuffy at Blackpool.
Arsenal aren’t poised to bolster at right-back before the end of the summer window, meaning they’ll be reliant on Takehiro Tomiyasu, Cedric Soares and Ben White throughout 2022/23.
